Provolve & Amos: 6 Years of Scalable Cloud Development

The Challenge: Cloud transformation without the budget for local talent

In 2017, Dutch IT services company Provolve IT set out to modernise their legacy on-premise software product into a cloud-native solution. As a small team with limited in-house web development capabilities, hiring local developers in the Netherlands came at a cost they weren't ready to absorb.

"That's when we found Tunga," Dereck explained, "and that's how our journey with Amos began."

The Solution: One developer. Six years. Full ownership.

Tunga connected Provolve with Amos Walugembe from Uganda. "We already had a remote-first culture," Dereck shared. "Amos was a perfect fit. I'd give him one sentence, and he'd build something from it."

Amos jumped into a highly technical domain, working with Provolve's niche deployment tooling and transitioning it from Windows scripting to modern cloud APIs. Despite the complexity, he quickly became lead developer — mentoring junior developers and spearheading core updates to the platform.

One major highlight was building a package store for third-party applications like 7-Zip and Adobe Reader — a vital part of Provolve's new hybrid cloud product. Amos didn't just contribute code; he shaped the product roadmap and became Provolve's lead developer over six years of continuous delivery.

The Result: Reliable delivery, significant cost savings

With Amos on the team, Provolve built and deployed a hybrid cloud solution with an integrated package store for automated software deployment. The operational load was reduced by automating installations across thousands of machines.

"Tunga made the process incredibly simple," said Dereck. "They handled the admin, invoicing, and everything else. All we had to focus on was building our product. The cost savings were significant."
